Ankeny Pet License/Dog Park
Pet Licensing Information
All dogs and cats in the city of Ankeny must be licensed each calendar year, Jan. 1 - Dec. 31. Park passes are good for a calendar year, Jan. 1 - Dec. 31. Price is not pro-rated based on purchase date throughout the year. If license is not paid for on or before March 31, a $10 per pet late fee will be charged. To avoid the $10 late fee, new Ankeny residents and residents with a newly acquired pet can purchase licenses in person at City Hall, 410 W First St.
Ankeny residents are allowed up to four dogs, four cats or a combination not exceeding four animals per household on a residential lot. A current certificate of rabies vaccination is required at the time of application.
Licensing your pet improves the chances of having your animal returned to you should they become lost or run away. It also helps the City of Ankeny ensure that pets are vaccinated.
Failure to license your pets could result in a $50 fine for the first offense and $100 for subsequent offenses. The City also requires a $45 impound fee and $25 service fee if a pet is picked up by Animal Control.
